We all appreciate the timeless beauty of the Stockinette Stitch, a staple in the classic chunky knit blanket. But if you're ready to switch things up and try something new, let me introduce you to a stunning alternative – the Criss Cross Stitch.
What you’ll need:
- 8 skeins of Chunky Chenille Yarn
- Set aside just 10 minutes of uninterrupted time to master this stitch, completely tangle-free
Step 1 - Create a slip knot and cast on 30 stitches
Step 2 - With the working yarn on the right side of your cast-on stitches, knit into the center of each loop.
Step 3 - Now you’re onto the second row. Ignore loop 0. Pull the 1st loop forwards out of the way. Knit into the 2nd loop. Pull the 1st loop in front of the 2nd loop and knit it - this creates the first cross. Continue this (pull the first loop forward, knit the second loop, knit the first loop) all along the row.
Step 4 - Starting on row 3, you will complete the exact same steps as row 2, but in the opposite direction (from right to left).
Step 6 - Continue this same pattern of stitches until you have 2 meters of yarn left.
Step 7 - You’ve completed all of the rows and need to cast off. Watch the video to learn how.
