Jump to the Juicy Bits

Step 1: Start with a Slip Knot [00:06]

  • Create a slip knot and place it on your 12mm needle.
  • Gently pull the knot to tighten it on the needle.

Step 2: Cast On [01:11]

  • Cast on (CO) 26 stitches onto the 12mm needle.

Step 3: Knit the First Row [05:45]

  • Hold the needle with the stitches in your left hand. (Always begin a new row with the stitches on the left-hand needle).
  • Work in a Knit 1 (K1), Purl 1 (P1) pattern, alternating until the end of the row.
  • Tick off row 1.

Step 4: Knit the Second Row [12:07]

  • Work in a Purl 1 (P1), Knit 1 (K1) pattern, alternating until the end of the row.
  • This is exactly the same as what you did in row 1, but you’re starting the row with a Purl stitch instead.
  • Tick off Row 2.

Step 5: Repeat the Seed Stitch Pattern [18:07]

  • Row 3: Knit 1 (K1), Purl 1 (P1).
  • Row 4: Purl 1 (P1), Knit 1 (K1).
  • You will see the Seed Stitch pattern start to form.
  • Repeat (rep) step 3 and step 4 until you have approximately 1 metre of yarn left on your fourth ball of yarn.

Step 6: Cast Off [18:42]

  • Knit the first two stitches (K2).
  • Lift the first stitch over the second stitch (st) on the right needle to Cast off (BO) one stitch.
  • Knit one more stitch (K1).
  • Repeat the Cast off (BO) step by lifting the first stitch (st) over the second stitch (st).
  • Continue this process until you have just one stitch (st) left on the needle.
  • Remove the final stitch (st) from the needle and thread the yarn tail through the loop to secure it.

Step 7: Secure the Ends & Hide the Tail [21:49]

  • Using a darning needle, tie an extra knot at the scarf’s corner for added security.
  • Trim any excess yarn - you’re done!
